Work Authorizations
DIFFERENT TYPES OF AMERICAN WORK VISAS
A work authorization is specifically geared toward individuals who would like to live and work in the United States. Most work authorization’s are classified as non-immigrant visas, allowing foreign workers to temporarily fulfill their employment duties, rather than permanent citizenship. Each temporary work authorization provides a specific duration of time permitted to work in the country, although instances of extension are common as long as the worker qualifies for the conditions of an extension. Contacting Attorney Lisa Modecker can drastically ease the process.
Work Authorizations or Employment Authorization Document (EAD):
An employment authorization document (EAD; Form I-765) or EAD card, known popularly as a work permit, is a document issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that provides temporary employment authorization to non citizens in the United States.
Currently the Employment Authorization Document is issued in the form of a standard credit card-size plastic card enhanced with multiple security features. The card contains some basic information about the alien: name, birth date, sex, immigrant category, country of birth, photo, alien registration number (also called “A-number”), card number, restrictive terms and conditions, and dates of validity. This document, however, should not be confused with the green card.
